About the City
Brest is a city and commune in the Finistere department and Bretagne region of north-western France. Located in a sheltered position not far from the western tip of the Breton peninsula, Brest is an important seaport and naval base.

Brest is separated in 5 districts, each offering its own attractions. Although the city was mostly destroyed in World War II, due to the several billion dollars paid by the German government after the war, Brest has once again become a jewel on the coast of Brittany.
Attractions
To discover Brest as the wonderful city it is, you only need a few hours and a good map of the city. The rest is fairly simple as the only thing you need to do is plan a course and navigate from landmark to landmark.
Transportation
Brest is easily accessible, especially from the UK English Channel shores. But even if you don’t find yourself near the English Channel you still have a range of transportation means to get to Brest.

Brest is the Breton capital of interesting events. From the monthly flea market to the Christmas celebrations, Brest offers a variety of wonderful and classy events that are sure to peak your interest.

Restaurants in Brest have a wide variety of seafood. Fresh fish is featured on practically every menu and you can even find a few fish-only restaurants. Local markets and supermarkets also offer lots of seafood.

The importance of Brest in medieval times was great enough to give rise to the saying, "He is not duke of Brittany who is not lord of Brest".
